We left for the shops in the morning, and discovered Anton's 2-week-old Audi had been savagely keyed on the bonnet, and all the way down the left side.

At the body shop, the repair was estimated at $1000, while the insurance policy has a $1000 deductible. So that's vandalism and daylight robbery all in one day.

All the people we talked to, rubberneckers and residents alike, displayed the same signs of shock. For something like this to happen in such an affluent, professional neighbourhood is highly irregular, we were assured. No other cars on the block were given this treatment.

My theory was that it's nothing personal, just the coolest car on the block (if you're not inquisitive enough to spot the stunning Dodge Viper at the end of the lot). Certainly the newest.
