Plane Tactics
I saw some sociopathic behaviour on the plane last night which bothered
me during the entire flight. The guy in front of me as we boarded put
his bag in the compartment above row 1, then took his seat in row 12! My
initial anger toward him was probably fuelled by the fact that I hadn't
thought of this idea before.
Chaos ensued as the passengers in the first row couldn't fit their
carry-on into their overhead compartments, so had to find an empty
compartment, as far as 7 rows back! This had a ripple effect, as people
in row 7 had to put their bags in my compartment (row 11).
All this because Johnny 12 didn't want to carry his bag through the
plane (it wasn't even big).
I was plotting and scheming to get him back by getting his bag and
putting it somewhere he wasn't expecting as we left the plane. My
strategy was somewhat thwarted by the fact that he was in the row
directly behind me, so would be able to see / stop me.
We landed and they got two sets of stairs, one for the front, one for
the back.
His antics backfired because the chaos that had gone on during boarding,
was of course to be repeated as we tried to leave the plane, resulting
in delays up front. He was bound to exit that way since that's where
he'd left his bag. Meanwhile, the cattle queue had thinned out towards
the back, and I happily slipped out while he sat in his seat, seething.
Perhaps I won't be emulating his nefarious tactics on future flights.
Not on little planes anyway.
